Priority P3 (do-first order) | Severity: n/a | Status: idea | Epic: SimTower parity | Type: feature-request | Recorded: 2026-07-08
Problem / motivation
Gated: needs a spec + art. Owner-requested 2026-07-08 (real-game reference: the New Tower shot from the harness). The 1994 game renders a parallax city silhouette behind the player's tower, a teal building skyline on the horizon, day/night palette-swapped. Add a graphical background cityscape layer behind our tower; it must respect the global dusk/dawn tint ramp rather than per-sprite lighting (see the authenticity-checklist row: the original's day/night is a palette swap, resource 0xFF03). Cosmetic/atmosphere; no save impact.

Research direction
Start with _bmad-output/implementation-artifacts/backlog.md and the background-cityscape story, then review the authenticity-checklist row and the New Tower harness reference. The work needs a spec and art before implementation; done means a parallax city silhouette appears behind the tower and follows the global dusk/dawn tint ramp without affecting saves.
