Description
Imported from the engineering backlog (

Priority P3 (do-first order) | Severity: n/a | Status: open | Epic: OpenSkyscraper docs | Type: review-deferral | Recorded: 2026-07-07
Divergence from the 1994 original
Gated: canon question, verify before touching the engine. The TDT stairs table's type field supports 2- and 3-story stairs/escalators (docs/canon/tdt-format.md §8), but neither source says the shipped game ever creates them; our canon (CLAUDE.md) holds walkways to fixed two-floor flights. Party verdict (2026-07-07): format allowance ≠ game behavior, so HOLD; verify against the real game (play/screenshots) before any maxSpanFor change.

Research direction
Read docs/canon/tdt-format.md §8, CLAUDE.md, and the walkway-variants entry in _bmad-output/implementation-artifacts/backlog.md. Verify the real game's 2- and 3-story stairs or escalators using gameplay evidence or screenshots before considering any maxSpanFor change. Done means recording whether the format allowance reflects shipped behavior and resolving the canon question.
