Summary
How it is now
MCP works pretty well with work items/modules/initiatives, but it cannot work with epics.
Example
- When I ask my Claude Code to fetch an epic by task number, it cannot be found
- When I ask my Claude Code to fetch all subtasks of epic, it cannot be found
- At the same time, MCP sees parents of subtasks and, after some back and forth, CC finally looks up all tasks whose parent has a particular ID
Why is that a problem
Additional token spend that could have been avoided
How it could be
MCP handles epic entity and can operate them in a same way as any other work items
Why should this be worked on?
It will help Plane's customers spend less tokens when working with Plane MCP
