Research direction
Reproduce the failure with Go 1.6 using a package that has a vendored dependency, and compare the reported import paths in the temporary godebug build directory. Trace how godebug prepares and builds that temporary package. Done means a package with vendored dependencies builds without the type mismatch shown in the issue.
