Necromancy, Overwhelming Splendor and "dies" triggers: wrong interaction

While Overwhelming Splendor was targetting me, I cast Necromancy to target Ashen Rider in my opponent's graveyard. It came in as a 1/1 with no abilities, but at the end of the turn, after Necromancy and Ashen Rider got sacrificed, his dies trigger goes off - and it is the opponent that owns Ashen Rider who picks the target. The correct behavior I believe should've been that the trigger doesn't go off at all.

Also notable that in this same scenario, except without Overwhelming Splendor on the field, I am (correctly) picking the target for both Ashen Rider's ETB and dies triggers.
