Description

Recently, iterm2 updated and gave user the possibility to choose between 3 new looks: regular, minimal and compact. I particularly like the minimal look. It shows all the necessary information without being distracting. This look is based the appearance of Electron apps (https://www.iterm2.com/documentation-preferences-appearance.html). See e.g. this screenshot this
from here.

This feature would give MacVim a more modern look.

Research direction

The issue does not name any files, tests, or entry points, so begin by locating MacVim's tab and window appearance code. Done means adding a minimal tab appearance inspired by iTerm2's minimal look while retaining the necessary tab information.
