Description

I am running Macvim 8.0.1633 (146) on macos 10.13.3 Weirdly, even with syntax on, the math
highlighting is plainly wrong, see
https://vi.stackexchange.com/questions/16199/macvim-does-not-recognize-math-latex-symbols-anymore
In the screenshot above, I didn't search for equation and the file compiled just fine.
As explained, the output of echo synIDattr(synID(line("."), col("."), 1), "name") turns out to be texBadMath. Anybody knows here what is going on?

Research direction

Reproduce the report in MacVim 8.0.1633 on macOS 10.13.3 with syntax highlighting enabled, using the linked example and the synIDattr command. Compare the highlighted equation with the reported texBadMath result; done means LaTeX math symbols receive the correct syntax highlighting.
