Description
This is definitely a _long term_ effort. Ideally, the frontend would not need to be concerned with calling convention details. Achieving this is harder than it first appears, and probably requires an IR-level pass (some of the PNaCl passes are relevant here).

Research direction
No files, tests, or entry points are named. Start by reviewing the frontend calling-convention requirements and the relevant PNaCl passes, then determine how an IR-level pass could address them and what completion criteria would verify that frontends no longer need those details.
