Description

We currently require a patched version of Spike to run Ibex verification. It would be nice if we could, instead of patching Spike, provide an extension library which can be loaded into an unmodified Spike build at runtime.

Research direction

Start by reading the issue and the linked Spike pull-request discussion to understand the proposed runtime extension mechanism and the Ibex-specific CSRs involved. The work is complete when an extension library can be loaded into an unmodified Spike build and supports the required Ibex verification use case.
