Description
We can drop the batch, but having a consistent event shape (e.g. either () or x.shape for Bernoulli) is beneficial. Also influences things like "independent", should be done with some thought

Research direction
Start by locating the distribution event-shape handling and comparing Bernoulli's shape with the proposed () or x.shape alternatives. Review how the choice affects independent, then define a consistent event-shape rule and corresponding tests before implementing. Done means the shape behavior and its interaction with independent are documented and verified.
