LV attempted to simulate i8 gather, but produced terrible code. This should never be vectorized.

Start with the C reproducer and Godbolt link, then inspect the shown x86 assembly to understand the vectorizer's simulated i8 gather. Reproduce the issue in LLVM's vectorization pipeline and identify the decision that emits this sequence. Done means the loop is no longer vectorized in this case and avoids the shown generated code.
