Description
In test suite schemas, bigger_is_better should be mandatory, otherwise we have no idea how to interpret a metric. There's nothing to gain from assuming a default, it's a one line in the schema file and it makes everything explicit.

Start by locating the test suite schema file and inspect how bigger_is_better is currently defined or defaulted. Make the field mandatory and verify that schemas without it are rejected, while existing schemas with it remain interpretable.
