Description
Pull request #1038 added the ability to present 1D data as ("fake") 2D strip mesh. For completeness, we need to deal with vertex data: should it be duplicated to the new vertices? should the data be scaled?

Research direction
Start by reading pull request #1038 and the existing 1D-to-strip-mesh implementation. Clarify whether vertex data should be duplicated, scaled, or handled another way, then agree on the intended behavior before identifying the required implementation and validation work.
