Description

Investigate cases in Redecomp where number of ranks is approximately the number of contact pairs. The minimum number of entities per rank was increased in #123, but perhaps a more sophisticated method is needed for determining the maximum number of ranks for a decomposition (RCB or otherwise)?

Research direction

Start by locating the Redecomp implementation and reviewing the minimum-entities-per-rank change in #123. Identify cases where the rank count approaches the number of contact pairs, then determine and document a suitable maximum-rank rule for RCB or other decompositions. Done means the problematic cases and the required decomposition behavior are validated.
