Research direction

The issue names no files, tests, entry points, or concrete acceptance criteria. First clarify whether the request is to investigate or implement a ControlNet-style architecture instead of SD inpainting channel concatenation; a contribution would need a defined comparison or implementation scope and a way to evaluate conditional image generation.
