Research direction

No source file or test is identified. First reproduce on Linux Mint 21.3 by enabling auto-scroll, scrolling several pages, and moving to the toolbar or menubar; then locate the code handling that interaction and page navigation. Done means the document remains at its current position instead of jumping to the end.
