Incorrect PDF background image rendering

Issue:
The background images in a certain PDF are incorrectly rendered in Xreader 2.2.3 under Linux Mint 19.2. The file opened up normally, I can scroll, select and search text, but the background rendering isn't smooth, compared to the one done by the Chromium browser.

Xreader rendering:

Start by reproducing the issue in Xreader 2.2.3 with the linked PDF on Linux Mint 19.2, then compare its background rendering with Chromium using the supplied screenshots. The issue is done when the PDF background renders smoothly and comparably to Chromium without regressing scrolling, text selection, or search.
