Research direction

Start by locating the code responsible for Xreader's automatic window resizing and reproduce the issue where the window becomes very small. Decide whether the existing behavior should be disabled or exposed as an option; the work is done when startup no longer produces an unexpectedly small window and the chosen behavior is covered by verification.
