Description
wmutschl opened this feature request on the old repo. Wouldn't it be useful in Linux Mint?
Copypasting the text:
I would propose adding an option to the settings to do automatic snapshots whenever apt or pacman do a package update or install. For Debian and Arch based distros this is easily done using hooks in the package manager, as shown by these two repositories:
https://gitlab.com/gobonja/timeshift-autosnap
https://github.com/wmutschl/timeshift-autosnap-aptI hope this idea finds support in the community here to include it in the official Timeshift package otherwise people can of course use the scripts above.

Research direction
Start by reviewing the linked timeshift-autosnap and timeshift-autosnap-apt repositories, then inspect how Timeshift exposes settings and creates snapshots. Determine how optional hooks could support apt and pacman package installs or updates across Debian-, Ubuntu-, and Arch-based systems. Done means the feature is integrated into Timeshift with clear settings and reliable snapshot behavior for the supported package managers.
