Suggestion
Hi! As far as I understand this is a major project and potentially the wrong approach, but maybe this is a nice place to have a conversation.
I'm looking into the Linux Desktop user experience in general, and one thing I noticed is the fragmentation between greeters and screensavers. New user are confused having two very different UIs for logging into their system.
Is it possible to implement one coherent UI, maybe reusing the same components? I'm using slick-greeter-mate and mate-screensaver.
Thanks!

Research direction
The issue names no files, tests, or entry points and asks for a broad discussion about unifying slick-greeter with mate-screensaver. Start by reviewing the project scope and how its existing UI components are structured, then determine whether the proposed shared interface belongs here. Done would require an agreed design and clearly defined implementation scope.
