Bug description
When trying to organise photos into a number of folders, I had two instances of Nemo open with one displaying all the folders zoomed quite small to fit them all. While the other instance had the photos in Icon View zoomed to make the thumbnails large and easy to see. When attempting to drag and drop a photo into one of the folders I noticed the thumbnail is hovering under the mouse pointer. However, the thumbnail right under the pointer is quite large, causing it to obstruct the view when trying to aim for the correct folder. Making it hard to drop the photo into the desired folder.
Steps to reproduce
1: Open two windows of Nemo next to each other. One with photos in Icon View maximally zoomed so you have large thumbnails. In the other window have a large number of folders zoomed quite small to fit all the folders in view.
2: Proceed to drag and drop a photo from the window with all the photos into one of the folders in the other window.
3: The issue: Notice how the preview thumbnail hovering under the mouse pointer as you perform the drag and drop is centred where you clicked. Since this preview thumbnail is quite large, this is blocking the view of where the pointer is aiming. Thereby making it difficult to drop the photo into the correct folder.
Expected behavior
If the mouse pointer instead of being centred where you click on the image, was somewhere a bit past the top left corner of a smaller version of the hovering thumbnail, the view of the folders would no longer be obstructed. Thereby making it simpler to aim for the correct folder to drop the photo. Perhaps this version of the drag and drop thumbnail could be an alternative option in Preferences for us who struggle with the current thumbnail behavior.
Additional information
Perhaps the most elegant solution for this would be if the hovering thumbnail stays full size as you pick the photo up, just like what happens now. However while moving away from the original location the thumbnail shrinks down to about 50%. While also gliding down towards the right so the pointer ends up at the top left corner by the time you're ready to do the drop.

Research direction
Start by reproducing the drag-and-drop behavior described on Linux Mint with Nemo 6.6.3, comparing large icon thumbnails with the destination folder view. Trace the existing drag preview behavior and determine how its size and position are controlled; done means the preview no longer obscures the intended destination while dragging.
