Research direction

Reproduce the crash in Nemo 6.4.5 on Arch using two windows or a divided screen, following the listed rename steps. Start by tracing the rename interaction across both windows and identify the crash location. Done means renaming a file in one view while another rename box is active no longer crashes Nemo, with the reported workflow verified again.

Bug description

If I have two windows open, or one window with a divided screen (F3). When I press F2 to rename a file, and then, while the F2 rename box is still active, I switch to the other window or screen and rename a second file, nemo will crash.

Steps to reproduce
  1. Start to rename a file in one nemo window. Don't press enter.
  2. Switch to second window or screen and rename another file.
Expected behavior

Hopefully nemo should not crash when doing this.

Additional information

This is relevant, for example, when i'm trying to rename a file in one folder the same as a file in another folder. After copying the filename, if I forget to press escape to exit out of the renaming box, and rename the second file, nemo will crash.
