Description
I use simple workspace switcher to show the selected workspace and its number.
With the new themes in 22.1 that applet now works slightly different.
It shows empty workspace in different color than workspace that has windows. It's confusing at least to me.
Below the "old look" (Simulated by switching to Mint-L theme): Clearly Workspace 4 is selected
And the "new look": Contrast between empty workspace 3 and occupied workspaces 1,2,4 is much greater than the difference between font color between 1,2,3 and 4. In effect, it's hard to say at first what is what.
maybe it's just me, but that seems like a UI/UX mistake.

Research direction
Inspect the Mint-Y and Cinnamon theme styles that control the workspace switcher, using the linked screenshots and Mint-L as the visual comparison. Determine how selected, empty, and occupied workspaces are distinguished; done means the selected workspace is immediately clear without occupancy contrast dominating.
