Description

 * Cinnamon version 4.6.3
 * Distribution - Mint 20 beta
 * Nvidia RTX 2060 Mobile, nvidia proprietary driver 440.82+really.440.64-ubuntu6
 * 64 bit

Issue
Fractional scaling scales desktop viewport instead of content when using proprietary Nvidia drivers:

  • setting zoom level to 125% shrinks the viewport to cca 3/4 of the screen with unusable space on the right and bottom sides of the screen
  • setting zoom level to 75% causes content overflow to the right and bottom sides of the screen, with screen containing about 3/4 of the viewport

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install Linux Mint 20 beta
  2. Install nvidia proprietary drivers 440
  3. Set zoom level to 125% in display settings

Expected behaviour
Fractional scaling scales content, not viewport

Research direction

Start by reproducing the fractional-scaling behavior in Cinnamon 4.6.3 on Linux Mint 20 beta with the proprietary Nvidia 440 driver, following the listed display-settings steps. Done means 125% and 75% zoom scale the desktop content correctly rather than shrinking or overflowing the viewport.
