Description

 * Cinnamon version 4.2.4
 * Distribution Mint 19.2
 * Radeon RX580 default driver (amdgpu)
 * 64 bit
 * Attach /home/<username>/.xsession-errors, or /var/log/syslog

Fresh install of Mint 19.2, have noticed that the power saving feature no longer works as intended. To be clear I am referring to the monitor shut off, not the hibernate feature.

After a period of inactivity, the monitor signal is turned off after a set time. But, this no longer happens. The monitor DOES turn off, but then it comes back to life again immediately after.

Have used this same computer before with Mint 18.3, 19.1 and not had this problem before.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the monitor power-saving behavior on Cinnamon 4.2.4 with Mint 19.2 and the Radeon RX580 setup described. Inspect /home//.xsession-errors and /var/log/syslog for activity immediately after the monitor turns off. Done means the monitor remains off after the configured timeout until user activity resumes it.
