Description

  1. Drag something, e.g. a file.
  2. Hit Win/Meta/Super (accidentially) (Start menu opens.)
  3. Hit escape to undo/close it. (Drag gets released instead of the start menu closed.)

Well and after it the menu is permanently opened, escape and "focus out" will not close it.

EDIT: The start menu is not clickable at all. It is transparent for mouse clicks.

Research direction

Reproduce the interaction in Cinnamon using the Start menu, an active drag, the Meta key, and Escape. Trace the Start menu's drag and keyboard handling; done means Escape closes the menu without releasing the drag, and the menu remains clickable and can close normally afterward.
