Live boot DVD with lmde-6-cinnamon-32bit.iso puts laptop to sleep every 30 seconds

Bug description

While trying to boot from the DVD, the laptop goes to sleep every 30 seconds and must be woke up by pressing a key. This continues in perpetuity. Every 30 seconds. The laptop never came to a desktop screen after 45 minutes of key pressing to keep waking it up. Pressing a key in advance of it going to sleep does not prevent it from going to sleep like a normal sleep timer would do. This is a severe bug as the OS is not usable.

Steps to reproduce

Burn lmde-6-cinnamon-32bit.iso onto DVD using another computer using xfburn.
Verify checksums.
Place into laptop DVD drive and reboot.
Select Language.

After about a minute, the laptop goes into suspend/sleep mode. Screen off.
Press a key. Laptop wakes up and resumes reading DVD.
After 30 seconds, laptop goes into suspend/sleep mode. Screen off.
Repeats every 30 seconds.

After about 45 minutes, I gave up, shut off the machine and installed an older 32 bit version of Lubuntu which ran without issue.

This happens regardless of whether it was regular start, force PAE start or compatibility start.

Machine is Compaq M2010US with Intel Celeron M350 which is a 32 bit only CPU. It supports PAE although a bug in the CPU causes it not to report that fact in its flags. There was no real difference in regular vs Force PAE mode as far as the bug goes. The PAE is irrelevant because the laptop only has 2 GB RAM and part of that goes to the screen.

Windows XP, Windows 7, Puppy Linux, Lubuntu and literally every other OS I've used do not have the problem. I have never seen it before and this bug is unique to LMDE. I have not tried it on regular LM.

My drive is partitioned with XP (NTFS 32 GB), XP_DATA (NTFS 200 GB), and Linux (EXT4 200 GB).

Expected behavior

When booting from the DVD, the system should either boot to a live DVD version of linux or go into an installer program.

Additional information

I was forced to use a different distro since I need to get it running. I would try again if they get it fixed since I think it would be ultimately a better distro for my laptop.

Start by reproducing the issue from lmde-6-cinnamon-32bit.iso on the Compaq M2010US, following the listed DVD boot steps and checking regular, Force PAE, and compatibility modes. Compare whether the machine reaches the live desktop or installer without repeated 30-second suspend cycles; the payload names no source file or test entry point.
