Package version

6.4.8

Graphics hardware in use

Onboard AMD

Frequency

Only occasionally

Bug description

The button that is meant to reveal the password yields black text on a black background. And then Cinnamon crashed to fallback mode.

Steps to reproduce
  1. Try to connect to a wifi network.
  2. See a password prompt. Start to type a password and then click the password reveal icon.
  3. The password shows up as black on dark background - which was largely illegible.
  4. Then almost immediately Cinnamon crashed to fallback mode.

Yet, 1-2 produce 3 and 4 only occasionally.

Expected behavior

Visible password.
No crash.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the password-reveal flow on Mint 22.1 with Cinnamon 6.4.8, using the reported dark theme, and review the linked forum discussion for additional context. Done means the revealed password remains legible and Cinnamon does not crash into fallback mode, including across repeated attempts.
