Bug description

The muted volume icon changes when an audio source is played in the browser. For example, if a video is played on YouTube, the muted volume symbol changes to a musical note and pretends that the sound is switched on although it is off, i.e. the volume is at 0 percent.

Steps to reproduce

Mute the Sound so the muted Volume icon appears and play a YouTube Video in Browser Firefox.

Expected behavior

The muted volume icon never changes until the volume is greater than 0.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the issue in Cinnamon 6.4.8 on Mint 22.1 with Firefox and a YouTube video, then trace the desktop sound indicator's mute-state handling. Done means the muted volume icon remains the muted symbol while volume is 0 percent, including when an audio source starts playing.
