Research direction

Start by reviewing the reported nm-applet core dump and the NetworkManager log around the OpenVPN connection attempt. Reproduce the issue by importing an OpenVPN connection and activating it through NetworkManager on Mint 22, then inspect the reported libgobject and libgdk stack frames. Done means the applet no longer crashes during connection and the VPN activation completes normally.
