(Solved) Super-E shortcut broken after installing GIMP

Bug description

The following is NOT a cinnamon bug, it's bugs in xdg-open, the repositories and a certain bad package. I searched here first and thus think it might help others to have this post here.

Symptoms:

• Shortly after a fresh install Super-E no longer works
• Other Super shortcuts are OK
• Mapping other keys to "Launchers-Home Folder" is possible and shows it is not the specific key, but this action that fails

Corroboration:

• Other software using xdg-open to open folders or files fails too
• Running xdg-open "." in terminal fails and blocks with error messages mentioning WSLInterop

Fix:
sudo apt purge wslu - gimp help will be removed too!

Steps to reproduce

Install GIMP and follow the recommendations to install help files

Expected behavior

Not a cinnamon problem!
