Bug description

Hi there,

since a couple of day my keyboard settings have been changed I don't know why.

Summary:

  • the arrow key down get recognized as Super L key and opens the start menu and
  • if you press the arrow down key again the start menu closes and the selection of anything goes one down
  • deleting the Super L key setting to open the start menu, the arrow down key works fine
  • re-assigning the Open-Start-Menu action to Super L key, the arrow down key again open the start menu as well

I recorded a video showing the behavior:
https://share.famsteiner.at/index.php/s/m5c2sEo7xPomMcj

I deleted my keyboard settings and selected English and afterwards I changed it back to German / Austrian but still the same. The arrow down key does the same.

Do you have any recommendations for me how to fix this issue?

Thank you,
Stoneubi

Research direction

Start by reproducing the issue in Cinnamon's keyboard settings on Mint 22 with package version 6.2.9: assign Open-Start-Menu to Super L and press Arrow Down. Trace the keyboard shortcut and key-event handling involved; done means Arrow Down no longer opens or closes the start menu while the Super L shortcut continues to work.
