Bug description
When the workspace switcher applet (workspace-switcher@cinnamon.org) is added to the taskbar, its hitbox doesn't extend to the bottom of the screen in some cases. There is a small margin between the clickable area of the workspace rectangles and the bottom of the screen. This means if you click at the bottom of the taskbar, the workspace rectangle won't be clicked on, and it will look like you clicked on it and nothing happened.
Steps to reproduce
Add a workspace switcher to the taskbar.
Move the mouse cursor over a rectangle.
Move the mouse cursor to the bottom of the screen.
Click.
Expected behavior
The workspace switcher should behave the same way as every other button on the taskbar: if you click at the bottom of the screen, they will be clicked on. This applies to the start button/menu button, the tasks in the grouped window list, the system tray, the clock, the show desktop button, etc.
Additional information
This bug seems to depend on which Cinnamon theme is active. The default theme has this bug.
This bug depends on the setting "Type of display" of the workspace switcher. When type of display is set to "A visual representation of workspaces," the bug exists. But when set to "simple buttons," the switcher behaves as expected.
By the way, I noticed that there is also no indication that a workspace rectangle is being hovered on; it doesn't get highlighted the way every other button does in the taskbar when you place the cursor over it, which is part of the reason why you can click at the bottom of the screen thinking you'll click on a workspace rectangle. I consider this to be a second bug. Should I file a separate report for it? This second bug also doesn't exist when the display is set to "simple buttons," the simple buttons are highlighted as you would expect.

Research direction
Start with the workspace-switcher@cinnamon.org applet and reproduce the issue in Cinnamon 6.2.9 with the display type set to “A visual representation of workspaces.” Compare its hitbox and hover behavior with “simple buttons” and other taskbar buttons; done means clicks at the bottom of the taskbar work and workspace rectangles show hover feedback.
