Description

Distribution

Mint 21.3

Package version

6.0.4

Graphics hardware in use

NVIDIA GeForce MX250 in On-Demand mode

Frequency

Always

Bug description

With a second monitor attached (this seems to be important!)
When "Monitor scale = 200%" is in force, the mouse pointer flickers on the main monitor (Not the attached monitor)
When "Monitor Scale = 175%" is in force then mouse pointer is NOT flickering.

Steps to reproduce

Plug in second monitor
Select 200% scaling for first monitor
Mouse pointer flickers when stationary, flickers even more when moving - ONLY on primary monitor
Effect can be seen even during mode preview.

Expected behavior

A solid, non-flickering mouse pointer in all scaling amounts, with two monitors

Additional information

Primary monitor: 3840 x 2160
Secondary Monitor: 1920 x 1080 (scale factor = 100%)

Research direction

Start by reproducing the issue using Cinnamon 6.0.4 on Linux Mint 21.3 with two monitors, 200% scaling, and the listed graphics setup. No source file or test is identified in the report; investigate the Cinnamon display and pointer-scaling entry points, and consider the issue done when the pointer remains solid on the primary monitor at 200% scaling without regressing other scaling modes.
