Research direction

Start by reviewing the attached ~/.xsession-errors file and the linked Nagstamon issue, using the reported Cinnamon 5.4.12, Ubuntu 22.10, and graphics-driver details as context. Reproduce the upgrade scenario with Python applications that provide tray icons; done means those icons appear and the behavior is covered for the reported environment.
