Description

 * Cinnamon version 5.6.7-1
 * Distribution - Manjaro Cinnamon Edition
 * 64 bit
Issue

In soundapplet there is an option to show the current albumcover in the taskbar. For Spotify (current Vers. 1:1 1.84.716-9) the artwork is freeziing at the first played song and not changing anymore to another song-artworks.

For other tested audio-players like Clementine and Audacious it's working fine and refreshing.

Steps to reproduce
  • set up the option "show Albumpicture in taskbar" at sound-applet.
  • open Spotify and play a random playlist with which includes differrent album-pictures.
  • the album-artwork in the taskbar is hangs at the first played song-artwork and is not refreshing at the next song with a different artwork.
Expected behaviour
  • the album-arwork in the taskbar should refresh and show the current played song-artwork at Spotify.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the issue through the soundapplet with Spotify, using the listed Cinnamon and Spotify versions, and inspect the soundapplet entry point that updates the taskbar album artwork. Compare its behavior with Clementine and Audacious. Done means the taskbar artwork changes to match each newly played Spotify track.
