Description
Problem
As you can see on this screenshot, I have four apps opened: files, firefox, telegram and chromium.
But currently firefox is expanded and I can't see the other apps.
And by looking at the pane I can't see, which apps are expanded and which are not.

I haven't found any special selector for an application that is running but not expanded.
If there is one, I would like to make the bottom border of the expanded apps dark blue and of the collapsed apps grey, but it seems like I can't do that right now.

Research direction
Start by reproducing the panel behavior on Linux Cinnamon 21 with Cinnamon 5.4.12 and inspect how running applications are represented and styled in the application pane. Done means expanded and collapsed applications have distinct visible styling, such as the requested bottom-border colors, through an available selector.
