Description
* Cinnamon version: Cinnamon 5.0.2
* Distribution: Arch Linux
* Graphics hardware: AMD Ryzen 7 4700U with Radeon Graphics (AMD Radeon RX Vega 7), AMDGPU driver
* 64 bit
Issue
Since updating to 5.x, switching to another workspace takes about 2 seconds, which is very slow. It felt much more responsive before updating.
Steps to reproduce
Switching workspaces via Ctrl + function keys
Expected behaviour
Faster workspace switching times as in CInnamon 4.x

Research direction
Start by reproducing the delay when switching workspaces with Ctrl plus the function keys on Cinnamon 5.0.2 under the reported Arch Linux and AMDGPU setup, then compare it with Cinnamon 4.x. Done means identifying and resolving the regression so workspace switching returns to the earlier responsiveness, with the reproduction confirmed on the affected setup.
