Cannot build photon-ml with Java 11

I'm trying to install on Debian10 and am following the instructions in the README, but at this command I'm coming across the following error.

Do you have any suggestions? Thanks

Start with the README build instructions and the ./gradlew entry point, then reproduce the reported command with Java 11. Check which Gradle version the wrapper uses and verify the build completes successfully with Java 11; the issue does not identify a source file or test to change.
