Description
**Why**:
- Runtime version checking (especially with dynamic libraries)
- Better debugging and support.
**Implementation**: Expose `CARGO_PKG_VERSION` . No memory management needed (static string).
I can submit a **PR** on this if you are interested.

Research direction
Start by locating the C-API entry point and existing exported functions, then inspect how the Rust package version is exposed through CARGO_PKG_VERSION. The work is complete when callers can retrieve the current version as a static string without memory management.
