From mixmaster@remailer.privacy.at on 2012-11-10 21:42:51:

When using an HTTP proxy on versions 6.04 and 6.05, the query does does not
always respect the timeout and will hang indefinitely. When I revert to version
6.03, the problem disappears.

Research direction

Start by reproducing an HTTP proxy request using Net-HTTP versions 6.03, 6.04, and 6.05, focusing on requests that exceed the timeout. Compare whether the newer versions return within the configured timeout rather than hanging indefinitely.
