Description
Currently the Web version of SDL uses the limited Web Gamepad API. Unfortunately that API has a limited feature set. Web HID was introduced in Chromium in 2021 and there are a number of consumer products using it. It would be nice if there was an option to use SDL's HID support to provide extended support for Steam Controllers and other such hardware and features not supported by the normal gamepad API.

Research direction
The issue does not name files or tests. Start by locating SDL's Web Gamepad API path and existing SDL HID support, then determine how an optional Web HID backend would fit the Web build. Done should provide extended support for Steam Controllers and other hardware or features unavailable through the normal gamepad API.
