Research direction
Start by reproducing Paper Mario with the gln64 plugin and inspect the rendering path responsible for backgrounds, objects, companions, NPCs, and enemies. The issue does not name files or tests, so the relevant entry point must be located in the emulator before work can begin. Done means Paper Mario objects render consistently without flickering, disappearing, or becoming solid-coloured boxes.
