Description

I'm using RetroArch 1.7.3, ParaLLel N64 2.0-rc2 db 08e9c, and Windows 10.

I have auto save state turned on, but not auto load. If I try to load from the auto state slot, the game will crash. If I manually save a state to the auto state slot and give it plenty of time to save before exiting, it will then work, but it not when exiting normally.

I tried renaming the auto state slot to the slot 0 file name, and it it crashed when loading from slot 0. I tried the opposite, saving to slot 0 then renaming to the auto-state slot, and that worked.

So, it has to be a problem with the auto-save state not functioning properly. I tried tweaking almost every core option, and even changed video settings and configuration saving settings with no luck.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the auto-save and auto-state-slot loading behavior with RetroArch 1.7.3, ParaLLel N64 2.0-rc2 db 08e9c, and Windows 10, comparing normal exit with a manually saved state. Done means the automatically saved state can be loaded without crashing and the behavior is covered for the reported save and load paths.
