Description
Inviting @cxd4 here as part of the discussion, @reznnate will be joining this conversation as well.
Reznnate can provide details on the current issues we are running into when attempting to run either:
-
Angrylion + cxd4 with the mupen64plus libretro core
-
Parallel video renderer + cxd4 with the parallel libretro core
Both were tested on Android Shield devices.
The issue that is manifested is that it seems to halt execution somewhere in the RSP interpreter and no video is being rendered onscreen, leaving just a black screen. The application does not hang but it does not continue either.

Research direction
Start by reproducing the black-screen behavior on an Android Shield device with both listed renderer/core and cxd4 combinations, then trace where execution stops in the RSP interpreter. Done means the affected combinations continue running and render video onscreen, with the relevant reproduction details and verification captured.
