Description

This has at least been done in these standalone builds. Wondering about the viability of applying it to Retroarch. Some games just don't have the best or non-existent game saving. Thanks for your consideration in advance.

Research direction

Start by reviewing the linked DOSBox-X repository and the standalone builds mentioned in the issue to understand their save-state implementations and how they might relate to RetroArch. The issue does not name files, tests, or an entry point, and completion criteria would need to be defined before implementation.
