Flycast NAOMI loading error when using zip/CHD via playlist

I am experiencing the same bug as this comment in reddit (from 6 years ago...) https://www.reddit.com/r/RetroArch/comments/hj6d1u/flycast_naomi_loading_error_when_using_zipchd_via/

I create a playlist with light gun naomi games. The one from simple zip are booting fine with flycast from the playlist, but the one that require a chd fail to boot. If i boot these zip/chd games with "load content", they work fine.

And yes these files are the latest mame 0.289 and they are well arranged and such.
It seems to be specific to flycast as i have one another playlist for mame light gun games, and the one with chd are working fine.

Start by reproducing the failure on Windows with a Flycast playlist entry for a Naomi zip/CHD set, then compare it with launching the same content through Load Content. The issue is resolved when the affected zip/CHD games boot successfully from the playlist, with a relevant log or narrowed failure path documented.
