Description
Is there an existing issue for this?
- This is a bug in RetroArch frontend
- I have searched the existing issues
Description
Subsystem for DS core melonDS or any other similar core that can use Subsystem does not load Achievements if loaded this way.
Expected behavior
Subsystem to load Achievements for the game currently playing.
Example.
Load DS Game Mega Man Battle Network 5 Double Team DS
Load GBA Game Mega Man Battle Network 1 - 5 or Boktai 1 or 2.
Achievements should show and work for Mega Man Battle Network 5 Double Team DS
It does not.
Steps to reproduce the bug
- Start Retro Arch
- Load Nintendo DS core
- Click Subsystem
- Select either option (Does not matter, both produce same problem)
- Select DS Rom, Mega Man Battle Network 5 Double Team DS
- Select GBA Game Mega Man Battle Network 1 - 5 or Boktai 1 or 2. (Also select Save if you choose this option)
- Start Game via Subsystem
- And here it should have loaded the Achievements for Mega Man Battle Network 5 Double Team DS
- But if you go Quick Menu and then go to Achievements it will say (Not logged in or Unknown Game).

Research direction
Reproduce the issue by launching a DS game with a GBA companion through the Subsystem menu, then check Quick Menu > Achievements and compare the result with a normal game launch. Trace the subsystem startup path and the Achievements identification or login state, using the affected DeSmuME, melonDS, or NooDS cores as examples. Done means the expected game's Achievements load and work when started through Subsystem.
