Description

The "Display Start Screen" setting in RetroArch does not persist after restarting the application. Even when explicitly enabled, it reverts to its default value ("Off") upon restart.

Expected behavior

The "Display Start Screen" setting should remain set to "On" after restarting RetroArch.

Steps to reproduce the bug
  1. Navigate to: Settings → User Interface → Menu Item Visibility
  2. Observe that "Display Start Screen" is set to "Off" by default
  3. Set "Display Start Screen" to "On"
  4. Main Menu → Restart
  5. Navigate again to: Settings → User Interface → Menu Item Visibility
  6. Observe that "Display Start Screen" has reverted to "Off"

Research direction

Start by reproducing the issue on GNU/Linux or the stable Flatpak release, using Settings → User Interface → Menu Item Visibility and Main Menu → Restart. Trace the persistence of the “Display Start Screen” value; done means that setting remains “On” after restarting RetroArch.
