Description
Good day,
I wanted to report that the Genesis Plus GX and Genesis Plus GX Wide core in RetroArch Wii is broken. When it starts up, the screen remains black, forcing the user to disconnect the console from the power supply. When it starts up again, RetroArch Wii remains black, corrupting the entire distribution and requiring RetroArch to be deleted and reinstalled.
I noticed this problem starting with version 1.16.0 of RetroArch Wii. I don't know if it's a problem that affects earlier versions, but from 1.16.0 to the current version, the cores have never worked for me. Would it be possible for you to check what is causing the problem?
Cheers.

Research direction
Start by reproducing the failure on RetroArch Wii with the Genesis Plus GX and Genesis Plus GX Wide cores, comparing version 1.16.0 with the current version. Capture startup behavior and logs if available; done means both cores launch without a black screen or corrupting the installation.
